Don't really know much about Sam Smith but just googling his discography surely now he must change his song titles to "Stay With They", "They not the Only One", "Lay They Down", "Baby, You make they Crazy" and "Make it to They" amongst others and I can't be arsed to see what his statement will do to his lyrics!!!!!

Surely it’s a third category that is neither one or the other.
I thought I heard of one award category in film or music that was going to have a separate award for NON-BINARY
Personally I think we should do away with the distinctions and have just one category ie:
Best Actor at the Oscars
100m at the Olympics ( knock yourself out Castor Semenya)

Because he identifies as both, I presume it is plural to represent both gender identities.
And good point. I expect a new award - Best Vocalise - Other - to take into account anyone who doesn't identify as solely male or female...
